The Fruit Basket
The Fruit Basket in collaboration with some of our partners in Durban, including Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR), Refugee Social Services (RSS) Dialogues for Change, POP INN, and KZN LGBTQ Recreation hosted a Documentation/ Asylum Support Wirkshop for the community there. The workshop aimed to provide support, guidance, and resources to the LGBTQI refugee community in Durban.
The workshop covered a range of topics related to the asylum process, including navigating the online application system and understanding the legal requirements and documentation needed to apply for asylum. Additionally, the workshop provided information on the rights and responsibilities of LGBTQI refugees in South Africa, as well as resources for health, education, and social support.
The Asylum Support Workshop provided a safe and inclusive space for participants to connect with others in similar situations, share their experiences, and learn from experts in the field. By bringing together a diverse group of community organizations and experts, The Fruit Basket aimed to empower LGBTQI refugees and help them access the resources and information they need to build a better future for themselves.
The Fruit Basket and its partners organized a Documentation/Asylum Support Workshop in Durban, offering LGBTQI refugees guidance, resources, and a safe space to navigate the asylum process, learn about their rights, and access support for health, education, and social needs.
